I present events, mainly for institutions, but also for companies and NGOs. The timeline can be anything from an hour to several days to present a congress. My ability to communicate in several languages is very often a particularly useful facet for this kind of presentation.
From the point of view of a journalist, this type of event is a gift from heaven because, for example, the time you can spend on an interview is not as strict as on television. It also gives you contact with some very interesting political or cultural personalities.
Thanks to these events I had the immense good fortune to get the chance to interview two Nobel prize-winners: Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchú and the winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics, Joseph Stiglitz. I have also had access to the mayors of capital cities all over the world, and experts in a range of areas.
My profession also lets me use the four languages I speak fluently: Basque, Spanish, English and French. I often have to speak all four at the same event (or even in the same debate). In fact, this is one of my favourite mental exercises, so … it is really a double gift from heaven!
The truth is that you never know where your career will take you. Thanks to my profession, I have also helped some NGOs with their campaigns, I have promoted Bilbao for the airline KLM, and I was even appointed ambassador for Álava’s Txakoli, a very special Basque white wine.
I have presented dozens of events and conferences. Here are a few of them. If you would like to see more, my Vimeo profile has a larger collection of videos of my events.
